We’re excited to welcome Alan Kinder to the GWG Recruitment team as our new Senior Consultant, specialising in accounting, finance, legl and risk. With close to a decade of experience and a deep understanding of the finance, legal, and risk sectors, Alan brings a unique skill set that sets him apart from other recruiters.
A Wealth of Experience Inside and Outside of Work
Alan’s professional journey is nothing short of impressive. Over the years, he has worked alongside a diverse range of professionals, including accountants, financial advisors, CFOs, and fund managers, to deliver strategic insights and solutions. His extensive background in consulting has seen him assist with the preparation of tax depreciation schedules and asset registers for various residential and commercial properties, including some of Australia’s largest projects.
One of his career highlights includes working with financial controllers and CFOs to prepare depreciation schedules for the Bungala Solar Farm in Port Augusta, South Australia—the largest solar farm in the Southern Hemisphere, a project valued at $430 million USD. This complex project involved itemizing and assessing all components of the farm, from solar panels to weather stations, and consulting with quantity surveyors to ensure accurate valuation for tax purposes.
Alan also spent time working on the Foreign Investment Review Board (Treasury, administered by the Australian Taxation Office), where he focused on foreign investment legislation and helped determine compliance with occupancy requirements for foreign entities. His strategic insights and recommendations were instrumental in shaping policies and handling individual cases.
Beyond his consulting ability, Alan’s industry influence extends to keynote speaking and lecturing. He has delivered talks at numerous industry events, including the Accountant Expo at ICC, where he shared his expertise on tax depreciation and legislative changes impacting the sector. He’s also lectured at Griffith University, educating future finance professionals on complex topics such as Division 40 & 43 depreciation allowances.
A Versatile Career Path
Alan’s experience isn’t confined to just finance and consulting. He’s honed his skills across various roles, including as a Business Manager for an esports content creator and a State Sales Manager at AGL, where he enhanced client experiences and fostered new business opportunities. His roles have spanned from developing sales strategies to managing operations and compliance, showcasing his versatility and adaptability.
Fun fact: Alan has a creative side too—he’s an accomplished musician with a catalogue of releases on Spotify. His passion for music, combined with his vast professional experience, makes him a unique addition to the GWG team.
His unique combination of public and private sector experience equips him with an in-depth perspective on the challenges facing finance, legal, and risk teams today. Alan’s broad background allows him to bring a strategic, consultative approach to recruitment, ensuring he’s able to connect the right talent with the right opportunities.
